St Ninians

Perfect for religious and non-religious ceremonies

In March 1883, plans from Mr Alex C. Pettigrew were approved for the construction of the origins of West United Presbyterian Church – later St Ninians United Free Church – then St Ninians Church of Scotland, until we acquired the building in 2014.

An invitation was sent to the Earl of Stair to lay the foundation stone, which was then laid with full Masonic Honours on 6th October 1883.

Almost exactly one year after the laying of the foundation stone, the building was completed for just under £3200, ready for opening and remains today virtually unaltered. It is mainly constructed of hard Scottish whinstone with facings and the crow-stepped gable facing Lewis Street of Annan red freestone.

Although an old church building, we offer religious and non-religious ceremonies for funerals, weddings and baby naming ceremonies. St Ninians boasts a spacious capacity, accommodating up to 350 people seated.
